Inspection Date
Check your calendars!
When attending Province Workshop this Saturday, we learned that dates for inspection are extremely limited. They have shortened the time period that POs have to conduct these meetings. Consequently, the only meeting Diana had available that is on our regular calendar was the June meeting - initiation, year-end reports, and installation of new officers. We don't want that, do we?!
The next best solution was to change our meeting date. Here is the proposition. Please know that I didn't commit to anything! I told her that we would get back to her after our November meeting and after we had a chance to consult our associates. Could we move our April meeting one day later - Tuesday, April 13th rather than Monday, April 12th? Please check your calendars now! FYI - this has been done in the past to accommodate inspections. Hopefully, this is early enough to make that change. Please share your thoughts on this and be prepared to vote at the next meeting!

Province I Workshop

We won! We won! Our chapter received a prize for havingthe most members in attendance. Way to go, Delta girls!
After workshop, we enjoyed lunch at The White HouseYour chapter officers and loyal members traveled west this morning at a rather early hour through dense fog to represent the chapter at Province I Workshop. Once we arrived safely (we're talking SERIOUS fog), we could relax and enjoy the morning with sisters from our little corner of the state. Dianna Simkins, our new Province I Officer, put together a lovely morning and we were fortunate to hear Council President Julie Reeder share her message.
We were proud to have the greatest number of chapter members in attendance and received a gift basket with a tea time theme. We decided to save the basket and auction it off at our November meeting. Someone will be lucky to have New Harmony Beta's famous apple butter and peach butter (along with lots of other goodies)!
Janet suggested The White House for lunch and we loved the sandwiches, soups, and salads there. We ran into other Tri Kappas who were lunching there before heading back home, as well. All in all, a very nice day! Thanks to all who went...we appreciate your commitment to Tri Kappa!

Library Contribution
I received a phone call from Larry Hollan this past Saturday with an idea for our chapter's contribution to the new library's quiet reading room. See what you think and PLEASE share your thoughts by posting a comment. That we can read what everyone has to say!
Larry purchased a large square library table and 8 chairs from our library at an auction at some point in the past. He speculated that these may be from the early 1900s (maybe Tri Kappa may have purchased them initially!). They definitely need some repair, but he felt like they were in relatively good condition for their age. He knew we were struggling with the question of how to make a meaningful addition to our new library and wondered if we might want to consider having these items repaired and refinished. He informed me that they are having the librarian's desk/counter stained and a new countertop added...perhaps we would like to have this table and set of chairs done by the same craftsmen in the same finish.
The workers were coming to give the library an estimate for the work needed on the librarian's desk this past Monday. Although I have not talked to Larry since then, he said he would have them get a price estimate for the table and chairs, as well.
What are your thoughts on this? We wouldn't be doing this to save money; in fact, it would probably be just as expensive as purchasing a new chair (maybe even more). It would, however, be preserving a piece of the library's history.

Kappa Cares Project
Remember, we can make this project our own...the lists below are just suggestions.
If you happen to be out and see a good sale on any of these items and WANT to donate, feel free. We can wait until we are more organized and have funding to purchase these goods all at once. Categories were as follows:
Infant/Unisex/age 0-24 months-powder, baby soap, bath mitt, comb, diapers, pacifier, bottle or sippee cup, bib, stuffed animal, blankie, and baby book
Toddler/Unisex/age 2-4- comb, toothbrush and toothpaste, pack of tissues, Chapstik, hairbrush, stuffed animal, blankie, activity/coloring book, crayons, flashcards
Little Girl/age 5-10 - bathroom bag, tissues, Chapstik, 1-2 ponytail holders, 1-2 barettes, toothbrush, toothpaste, nail file, hairbrush, journal with pencil, book, sticker set or doll or puzzle or activity book with crayons
Little Boy/age 5-10 - bathroom bag, tissues, comb, Chapstik, toothbrush and toothpaste, journal with pencil, book, model kit or football or puzzle
Pre-teen/Teen Girl/age 11-17 - bathroom bag, comb, deodorant, toothbrush and toothpaste, tissues, hairbrush, 2-3 ponytail holders, nail file, Chapstik, panty liners, lip gloss, journal with pencil, book or magazine
Pre-teen/Teen Boy/age 11-17 - bathroom bag, comb, toothbrush and toothpaste, Chapstik, deodorant, tissues, journal with pencil, book or magazine, Nerf football or deck of cards
No razors or other potentially dangerous items...stuffed animals must be rated for infants, if planning for infant bag...no mouthwash unless it is alcohol-free...all items must be new-no used items accepted
